The 2001 Lamaione, 100% Merlot, is somewhat California-Australia in style, not accidentally since Montalcino is one of the warmer parts of Tuscany. Lush and voluptuous in aroma with very ripe plum and cherry fruit and warming, penetrating notes from the alcohol, it is broad, velvety, sensual, and deep in flavor, concentrated and caressing on the finish.
