Tasting NotesRobert Parker: 93--95 Points
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Backus Vineyard (90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot) tips the scales at 14.5% alcohol. Only 1,700 cases were produced. Beautiful pure black raspberry and blueberry fruit along with hints of wet rocks and acacia flowers jump from the glass of this opaque purple-colored, full-bodied wine. It is more tightly knit and less exuberant and voluptuous than the 2012, but it is bursting with enormous potential, extract and concentration. Forget this 2013 for 5-6 years and drink it over the following three decades.
