A dark, purple-red color in the glass, this single-block study begins with spicy aromas of cola and root beer as well as intense but not overripe berry and cherry aspects, a touch of toasty oak and an earthy, tar-like scent. The palate is rich with baked boysenberry-pie flavors but also deep and complex with loamy soil and more cola spice. The structure is tightly woven. Drink now through 2034. Matt Kettmann
