COMMENTARY: What does one get when one combines Bordeaux with Rhône? Confusion? Sometimes. The 2015 Rowen Red—a blend of grape varieties from those regions that I just mentioned—is a delicious wine unto itself. Winemaker Justin Seidenfeld calls this wine, "My baby." His baby has entered the marketplace beautifully. TASTING NOTES: This wine is tasteful and food-friendly. Its aromas and flavors of ripe black fruits, savory spices, and a sprinkle of white pepper should pair it well with braised meat dishes. Who says, "You can't blend Bordeaux and Rhône? Only those who do try, I suppose." (Tasted: November 14, 2018, San Francisco, CA)
