The medium ruby colored 2013 Grenache Sur Echalas Vineyard offers lots of savoriness in its red and black fruits, herbes de Provence, cured meats, and dried violet aromas and flavors. Concentrated, medium to full-bodied and layered, with rock star length, it should be at its best from 2019-2029.
While I reviewed the 2013s from bottle last year, I was thrilled to have a chance to taste through them again. They showed consistently from last year and are beautiful wines. The 2014s showed more flesh, richness and density, and should be a step up. My experience with these wines is that they really need a handful of years in the cellar to start to show well, but if you must drink them in their youth, they benefit from a solid decant.
