Tasting NotesRobert Parker: 93 Points
The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva offers plumpness and softness that you don't find as easily in the more acidic (and nervous) 2013 vintage. This vintage saw a warm and dry summer season, and those conditions tend to add more weight and textural heaviness to Sangiovese. This Riserva opens to a dark color and medium-rich concentration. The bouquet is fleshed out with red and purple fruit tones of cherry, plum and blackberry. The finish shows ample power and density.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Aromas of blackberries, blueberries and cherries with hints of walnuts. Some cedar, too. Full body, dusty tannins and a flavorful finish. Big and juicy. Tannic. Needs a couple years more to soften. Better in 2020.
