With its scents of tobacco, cassis, and tomato foliage, the 2006 Blue Grove Hill red is consistent with its predecessor, but on the palate there are toasted nuts, dark chocolate, and a lovely wafting floral perfume, which combined with an especially smooth texture makes for even more elegance and enjoyment than the 2006. Subtle chalk and vanilla notes extend the fruit in the finish. It would be hard to find a more sophisticated Bordeaux blend for the price. Enjoy it over the next 12-18 months.
Capaia Wines represents a collaboration between proprietor Alexander Baron von Essen of Germany and Comte Stephan von Neipperg of St. Emilion. Bringing their own vine material from Bordeaux to the emerging Philadephia region (near Durbanville), and seemingly sparing no expense, they are already producing exciting results. Blue Grove Hill serves as their second label.
