Jean-Pierre Boisson, the mayor of Chateauneuf du Pape, continues to turn out wines that offer immediate appeal. Both cuvees of 1994 are attractive, delicious, hedonistic styles of Chateauneuf du Pape made for drinking over the next 5-7 years. Interestingly, I found a bigger difference in their intensity levels last year than after bottling. The soft, fruity, jammy 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits a medium dark garnet color, a sexy, lush personality, medium to full body, low acidity, abundant alcohol, and copious quantities of rich, juicy fruit in the finish. It tastes like a Chateauneuf du Pape candy bar. This wine was tasted between June 1 and June 16, 1996.
