The 2003 San Roman is 100% Tinta de Toro from vines at least 60 years of age and aged for 22 months in new French oak and a mix of new and used American oak before being bottled unfiltered. Opaque purple in color, the nose offers pain grille, smoke, vanilla, brooding black fruits, and licorice. On the palate the wine is a baby with layers of fruit, full tannins, and exceptional depth and concentration. The long, pure finish lasts for 40 seconds. Cellar this wine for 4-6 years and drink it through 2020.
